Home Isn't Home Without Kisses and Moo's

So, obviously I have not been doing a very good job of keeping this blog up to date considering I am finally writing my second post! Hooray for staying on top of this thing. I am going to try to be better.

We are beginning to settle into our new house here in Keller, Texas. We have the living room painted and finally received our new shelves, so the room is starting to come together. The office is painted a super sweet green and I love it. And Dash's room is painted, but is still a huge mess- who knew he had so many toys! And with all of that there is still SO much painting that has to be done! This house is so much bigger than our house in Colorado! I guess it would be a good idea to post pictures of the rooms we are beginning to complete, but that will be a task for tomorrow! I had intended on painting the "powder room-half bath-downstairs bathroom" (you get the idea) this weekend, but unfortunately I got sick... so instead I spent the last two days on the couch. Two days on the couch will really put a cramp in your behind! But, nonetheless I hope to paint the bathroom in the next couple of days.

I started my job at Cook's Children's Hospital. So far, I can say that I like it... but am still so new that I am really just still learning how the hospital/documentation/system works. It is not the most fun part of any new job, but I'm hoping here soon that I will start to feel even somewhat comfortable. But I can say that working two 12 hour shifts is AWESOME! I can get used to this for sure. I feel very blessed to be able to stay home with Dashy more.

Speaking of Dash! I guess I should post some new pictures! (That will also be a job for tomorrow). Dash is growing like crazy, of course. He has his own full vocabulary, most importantly- "nana" (banana), "mo" (more), "car", "gall" (ball), "o" (Olive), "uppy" (this means up and down), "eata" (eat), "ooo" (moo- like a cow). There are more, but these seem to be his current favorites. He is happy as can be and is adjusting to his new house very well. He is growing into his personality so much lately! He is such a sweet boy. We were at the park this last Friday and another little boy who was also 16 months old was throwing the little wood pellets all over the place and Dash (being the sweet boy that he is) picked up two handfuls of the wood pellets and walked over to the little boy and handed him his wood pellets. I loved watching him be so kind. Also, his new favorite thing to do (probably because he gets much encouragement from his Mommy) is to give kisses. His blows kisses, he gives kisses, he kisses Olive, he is a kissing machine. I LOVE Dash kisses!! However, although there are lots of kisses that are given on a daily basis there was a new event that melted my heart this morning. Brett was playing with Dash and I (not feeling so well) was in my spot on the couch. Brett put Dash above my head where I was laying and in the most loving-sweet-melting Mommy's heart way, he leaned down and kissed the top of my head, puckered lips, smacking sound and all. If only I could box up that feeling and use it anytime I felt I needed a little pick me up. I sure do love my little Dashy, that sweet sweet (and very handsome) boy.

And in all of this, I have a husband! Brett has been working his job at the cable contractor, still hoping to eventually get a teaching job. The first month has been challenging, as he walked into a mess and is having to sort it all out and fix it (not a fun job to position to walk into). But, he is hanging in there and things are starting to take a turn for the better, so we are hoping that here soon his schedule will be a bit better and his hours won't be so long. He is currently getting up at 4:45 and usually gets home from work at around 4:30, but it is just so inconsistent... so pray that it will just get better! We are, however, thankful that he has a job.

And as some people know my sister, Sally, moved down here a few weeks after Brett, Dash, and I did. She wanted a change and is staying in one of our guest bedrooms. It is nice having her around, although she is trying to get connected with some people her own age. She has made some friends and is trying out some churches to meet other college aged kids. I think she is finally getting accustomed to the idea of Texas and Dash likes having her around too. So she will be here with us for the next few months to get settled before getting a place of her own.

So, here we are. In Texas. Getting settled. With a second post!

Tomorrow I will post some pictures. I am sure the only ones that matter are of you know who.

A Big Event

The day is here. A BIG EVENT is upon us... well... me. But "us" being the Bowden's, "the oh-so-amusing-half-ridiculous-completely-inappropriate-mostly-balanced-fully-devoted-practically-sincere-super-flawed-Jesus-seeking-family." My dear, loyal, and kind husband Brett and 14 month old cheerful, spirited, and remarkably beautiful son, Dash Harper.

So here it is, my first blog. I love to read other's blogs and have looked forward to the day that I would put my fingers to the keys and record the life of my family. I felt like the onset of a blog would need to be A BIG EVENT... and I can finally say, I think it is here.

I turn 26 in two days. My family and I are moving to Keller, Texas in 15 days. I will be leaving the first and only job I have ever had as a nurse in three days, and thus my best friends and gaining-in-age grandparents. I will be beginning a job in pediatrics at Cook's Children's Hospital (half-time..!!) in Ft. Worth in 36 days.... and so the start of an adventure... and what makes sense to me in my illogical but completely absolute brain of mine as A BIG EVENT!!

We have spent the last nine days here in Texas. In that time I have secured a job, Brett has secured a job (although not his ideal job of being a teacher YET), we have bought a house which is twice the size of the house we have in Denver and $100,000 less! Denver you are so expensive! And we have spent more time with Pops and G-mom at one time than we ever have before. G-mom is not complaining one bit! We are very blessed.

And so it is, in this place, that I will record the events of my family... the joys, the crocodile tears, and the baby giggles.

Oh, and I got a Canon xSi for my birthday from Brett and Pops and G-Mom (Brett's parents). I am SO excited!! So amongst the words... will be the photography safari. I will be learning and so I will share the bad, the better, and hopefully someday... the good.
